Let’s talk about New Zealand’s Energy options
David Robinson, CEO of the Petroleum Exploration and Production Association (PEPANZ) and Mike Underhill, CEO of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), together welcome global energy expert Dr Scott Tinker to New Zealand.
PEPANZ has invited Dr Scott Tinker to New Zealand to host screenings of his award winning documentary ‘SWITCH’. EECA is supporting the screening of SWITCH to increase understanding about New Zealand’s energy situation and the importance of using energy more efficiently.
‘SWITCH’ provides an unbiased, scientific overview of the world’s energy resources – pros and cons and the importance of energy efficiency.
David Robinson says “Energy has become a highly politicized subject, worldwide and here in NZ. The makers of SWITCH were determined that their project would not be and they have succeeded in looking beyond assumptions and remain as objective as possible.
“As an Association, PEPANZ believes in the importance of encouraging energy literacy and growing a mature conversation about our energy sources and what our future energy mix might look like”.
“We hope that by taking a cooperative approach we will be able to provide New Zealanders with the information they need to make an informed decision about the realities of our energy options and how we can use them efficiently here in Aotearoa.
EECA CEO Mike Underhill says energy is one of the most critical issues of our time.
“New Zealand spends about $18 billion on energy every year and about $4 billion of that could be saved through cost-effective energy efficiency.”
Dr Scott Tinker will be hosting three screenings of SWITCH. 2 screenings in Wellington (one of these for high school students), and one in Taranaki.
